Time is running out to purchase a ticket for the 2014 Early Bird Dreams Drawing.
This will be the 21 annual Dreams Drawing, with the Early Bird portion taking place tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. outside Routt Catholic High School.
Featured items include the grand prize of a Honda 4-wheeler and $2,500 in cash, the second place prize of $3,000 and third through fifth place walking away with $1,000 each.
Morgan County State’s Attorney Bobby Bonjean says the Dreams Drawing wouldn’t be a success without the overwhelming support over the years.
“It’s one of those amazing things for the Routt and Our Savior community but it’s not just that community that supports this event,” says Bonjean.
“It’s supported community wide through Jacksonville, Morgan County, West Central Illinois and even throughout the United States. I’m always amazed whether it be this event or any other event that the community expresses some need for and the community always responds.”
State Farm Insurance agent Jeff Mossman notes that while it’s always exciting to win money at the drawing, it’s just as exciting to see how the proceeds from this event benefit Routt Catholic High School and Our Savior Grade School.
“It’s over $100,000 that we raise for both schools and what that really means on a yearly basis is really profound,” says Mossman.
“It goes right to the education by helping to pay salaries for the teachers and administration. It also pays for books, computers and supports capital improvements to the building that are consistently needing improvements. It really hits me every year to see what the kids get out of it.”
All the winners of the early bird drawing will be entered into the main drawing on August 31 at 6 p.m., with $100,000 in cash and a 2014 Chevrolet Camaro SS being on of the 50 prizes award.
Tickets are $100 each and can be purchased locations such as the Dreams office at 435 East State, Farmers State Bank, Premier Bank and from over 100 individuals selling tickets in the community.
Online sales at rchsossdreams.com have temporarily been suspended. Once the Early Bird drawing is completed, online sales will reopen. A maximum of 4,200 can be sold.
