Route 67 in western Morgan County was shut down this morning while crews cleaned up an accident involving a pickup truck carrying anhydrous.
According to the Illinois State Police, it happened at 8:45 a.m. at the interchange with Arenzville Road. Police say the truck, driven by 60-year-old Rockalon Broer of Illinois, address unavailable, was making a left turn off southbound 67 onto Arenzville Road east of Meredosia.
A tractor trailer driven by 41-year-old Arthur Beckett of Tennessee attempted to pass Broer while also headed southbound on the highway. Police say he hit the pickup as it turned onto Arenzville Road. Beckett’s truck traveled off the roadway, striking two utility poles before coming to rest in a field.
Beckett was taken to Passavant Area Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He has been treated and released.
Route 67 was closed, with traffic redirected.
Both drivers received citations.
