There were several other significant races and votes outside of Morgan County last night, specifically in Greene and Scott Counties.
Starting in Scott County, voters decided on a new sheriff. With all ten precincts turned in and counted, Tom Eddinger defeated Robert Smith 721 to 502 for the Republican primary to become the next Scott County Sheriff.
Also in Scott County, residents voted on a referendum to extend the tax in Road District 2 from 33 cents to 66 cents. Ultimately, that proposal was denied, as the county received 42 “no” votes compared to 34 votes for “yes.”
In Greene County, voters decided on whether or not to establish a fire protection district in White Hall with a tax ceiling of $175-thousand dollars.
After all 22 Greene County precincts had been turned in, residents voted in favor of forming the fire protection district by a final tally of 348 to 269.
