Japanese culture, customs and cuisine will be on display at Illinois College next week.
The Matsuri festival will take place Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 in the Bruner Fitness and Recreation Center on the Illinois College campus. Held annually, the event will feature Japanese food, demonstrations and hands-on activities. Admission is free, and the public is invited to attend.
Twenty-seven students from Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan, arrived in Jacksonville in early February and are spending a little over four weeks engaged in the study of American culture and the English language on campus. The college is in its 27th year of intercultural exchange with the university.
