Santa Claus is returning to Jacksonville tonight.
The big man is the main attraction in the downtown Christmas parade. The lineup will start around 5:30 near the municipal building and go south on Sandy to the square. The parade itself starts at 6 p.m.
Mr. Claus says he’s been busy hitting other towns in Illinois. Our own Gary Scott was fortunate enough to interview him on Wednesday.
“Ho, ho, ho! We got the sleigh all fired up. The boys are ready to go. I was talking to Donner and Blitzen this morning; I told them, ‘Guys, we got to make it snappy. We’re going to be right on top of things, ho, ho, ho!” says Santa.
Mr. Kringle says he might be getting on the fire truck just minutes before the parade starts, but don’t worry, Jacksonville, he says he’ll be here.
“I love you guys in Jacksonville, ho, ho, ho! I’m going to stay there- it’s going to be a little chilly- but I’m going to be in after the parade,” he says. “I’m going to be in the house for a couple hours, and let the kids come talk to me then.”
After tonight, Santa will be in his downtown house from 2 to 4 p-m on November 30th, December 7th, December 21st, 22nd and Christmas Eve. He’ll be there from 4:30 to 7 p.m. on December 5th and 6th, the 12th and 13th, the 19th and 20th and December 23rd.
On December 14th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., you can have breakfast with Santa, enjoy a Christmas craft show, and he will be in his house.
Santa says his elves have been busy making new Nerf crossbow toys and the Flutterbye flying fairy.
Santa arrived by helicopter Friday night before getting on the fire truck in Jacksonville.
