Assessment shows obesity, mental health, care access as top priorities

Passavant Area Hospital is sharing the results of a community health need assessment.

It’s indicated in a press release that Passavant identified three priorities for the people and communities it serves in the Morgan County region: obesity, mental health and access to care.

Completing a community health need assessment is required of nonprofit hospitals by the Affordable Care Act of 2010. The last needs assessment was completed in 2012.

The assessment was completed through collaboration with the Morgan County Health Department and other health and social service providers that represent vulnerable members of the community.

In a statement, Passavant CEO Doug Rahn said, “A multitude of issues determine the health of a community. No single hospital, agency or governmental body can be entirely responsible for the health of its community. We look forward to working with our community partners to address these critical health needs faced by many in our community.”
