Morgan County Deputies are investigating an incident in which a garbage bag full of marijuana plants was found in the parking lot of a business.

According to reports, a deputy was dispatched to Bill’s Towing at 107 Ankrom Court to take a report of criminal damage to property. The Meredosia Police department had ordered a vehicle be towed a few days prior stemming from an unlicensed driver with no insurance.

Sometime Wednesday night, deputies say someone broke the rear passenger side window. When deputies investigated yesterday, they found the garbage bag full of pot about 50 feet away in the parking lot, according to Chief Deputy Mike Carmody.

He says about 20 plants were found inside and didn’t appear to be processed. The Central Illinois Enforcement Group and Drug Task Force was called in and took possession of the pot plants, according to Carmody.

Carmody says right now, the criminal damage case and the discovery of the drugs are being investigated as separate incidents. The car owner was from Romeoville.
