There’s more bad news for the candidate who lost last month’s Republican primary in the local state senate race.
State Trooper Bryce Benton not only lost his fight against incumbent State Senator Sam McCann, he also lost a day’s pay.
Benton was given a one-day suspension because pictures of him in uniform appeared in his campaign literature and TV ads, a violation of state police policies.
Benton was backed by Governor Rauner and got three-million-dollars worth of advertising from a conservative PAC called Liberty Principles.
