Forty-seven-year-old Kendall Bridgewater took part in a Chain of Command ceremony held in San Diego on June 25th. He was formally named commander of the U.S.S. Fort Worth.
Bridgewater has received multiple medals for his work in the Navy. He has deployed numerous times in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Bridgewater took over from Commander Hank Kim.
The Navy says the Change of Command ceremony is a time-honored tradition which formally restates to the officers and crew the continuity of the authority of command.
