A Winfield, Missouri man, who authorities say conspired to make and sell “bath salts” and other synthetic illegal drugs, was forced to forfeit property in Carrollton as part of his conviction last week.

According to a report from the St. Louis Post Dispatch, 36-year-old Richard Gross pleaded guilty on April 4th to four conspiracy charges, including distributing controlled substances, controlled substance analogs and conspiracy to sell smuggled goods.

On August 11th Gross was sentenced to 12.5 years in prison, the same verdict his mother, 58-year-old Pamela Tabatt of St. Peters, received in July.

Tabatt ran the South 94 Bait, Tackle and Smoke Shop in Weldon Spring and the Smoke Sensations Nights of Rave store in St. Louis County.

Thirty-two-year-old Paul Berra Jr. of Warrenton, who purchased the property in Carrollton, received a near three year sentence in prison for his involvement with property used to manufacture synthetic drugs.

According to Gross’ plea, the drugs were sold at both stores and manufactured in Carrollton.
