The doors to a Meredosia plant are set to close at the end of the year.

Celanese, a vinyl acetate/ethylene emulsion facility, announced it will be shutting down the Meredosia site on December 15th.

A press release from the company states the company “favors integrated production sites that provide critical economies of scale and the Meredosia facility does not provide sufficient economies of scale compared with other Celanese emulsion production facilities.”

Thirty-six employees and 10 sub-contractors will lose their jobs due the closing of the plant.

According to the Celanese website, the company employees approximately 7,500 individuals from around the world.
