Area residents can enjoy musical entertainment and more every Sunday at Centenary United Methodist Church in Jacksonville during the month of September.

The local church is hosting its annual September Songs Festival each weekend on the south lawn, which was acquired recently to be used as a venue.

Visitors can see a performance by the Burr Oak String Band on Sunday (September 10). The band is a Bluegrass group that utilizes such instruments as the guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, and upright bass.

A split concert follows on September 17 that features the Gospel Gals at 4:00 p.m. and Rod Nicholson at 5:00. Then on September 24, the band Tapestry performs at the festival.

Along with the music, various artisans and vendors will be on hand during the shows.

The Sunday concerts are free and run from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
