Members of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce are preparing for an annual pilgrimage to the state capitol tomorrow.

A carpool will depart for the Springfield Drive-In, as it’s called. Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lisa Musch says it’s a leadership lobby event that will include the chance to speak with several state representatives and state senators, plus the directors of the Department of Revenue, Department of Transportation, and Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.

Musch says chamber members will then get a chance to watch House or Senate session activity.

“It’s really a great day to be able to meet with the people in Springfield. Hopefully they can answer some of our questions and concerns, or at least we’re able to voice those,” she says.

“This has been a project and event of the Chamber for a number of years. We usually go over once in the spring. There are a lot of different lobby days in the spring- I know I went to one last week [as part of a] circle group, which is a group of regional chamber executives. Many other communities host their own drive-in or lobby days as well,” Musch adds.

She says State Representative C.D. Davidsmeyer is assisting with the event organization.

The carpool tomorrow will leave at 8 a.m. from the Chamber of Commerce parking lot. You are asked to RSVP today if you are attending and will be part of the carpool. You can call the Chamber of Commerce at 245-2174.
