Morgan County residents can find out what it takes to be a police officer during the 21st Citizens Police Academy.
Applications can be picked up at the Jacksonville Police Department, the South Jacksonville Police Department or the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department.
Local law enforcement officials will instruct the class with an occasional outside speaker.
According to a press release from the academy, the goal is to not only help local residents better understand police work in their community, but to also develop stronger ties between the community and their police agencies in an effort to better address crime and other law enforcement issues.
The academy is an 11-week program followed by a graduation. Classes will be held Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 at the municipal building at 200 West Douglas starting February 25th.
Applications are due no later than February 17th.
There is no cost to participate in the Citizens Police Academy.
