Planning for the 2015 budget will be discussed at tonight’s Jacksonville City Council meeting.
The discussion will take place during the city’ clerk’s report. Tonight’s agenda also includes the second reading of an ordinance amending city municipal code to correct a code reference for the cannabis decriminalization law.
There’s also a second scheduled reading of an ordinance for a liquor license for Murphy Oil USA, the new gas station going up in front of Wal-Mart.
Aldermen will vote on a series of traffic changes around Turner Junior High School. Although this is the first reading, city council plans on using the emergency clause to pass the changes aimed at improving pedestrian safety at the school.
The Planning and Public Works Committee report includes a discussion on a rezoning request from 8 Points Charter School to complete its move into the former Franklin Elementary building at 352 Franklin.
The mayor’s report includes a presentation from an official from the Illinois Department of Corrections on area recruitment outreach.
