City Council to consider hiring police & fire personnel

The City of Jacksonville will look into hiring new probationary personnel for their police and fire departments at tonight’s city council meeting.

Tonight’s meeting will kick off Public Protection Committee meeting in the commission room to discuss the hiring of Jacksonville Fire Department personnel.

From there, aldermen will move into the workshop session. City Council members will discuss the possibility of making minutes on certain closed sessions available for public inspection. They will also look at the hiring of one probationary patrolman for the Jacksonville Police Department and three probationary hosemen to the Jacksonville Fire Department. Aldermen will also discuss extending the city’s water supply to a portion of Country Club road.

During the regular council meeting, aldermen will hear the second reading of an ordinance to vacate an un-named alley located behind 213-215 West Morgan. City Council members will also hear the second reading of an ordinance amending the Jacksonville Zoning Map for property located at 2170 East Morton Avenue.

All of tonight’s meetings will take place on the second floor of the Jacksonville Municipal Building.
