Aldermen will be joined by area boy scouts on a rather busy schedule for tonight’s Jacksonville City Council meeting.

Tonight’s city council meeting is the annual Boy Scout Citizenship Day meeting, where aldermen will be joined by local boy scouts. The night will get started at its usual 6 p.m. workshop session, where members of the city council will hear reports from city attorney Dan Beard, the planning and public works committee and the utilities department.

In the city attorney’s reports, aldermen will discuss a request from Jacksonville Area Baseball to extend their lease agreement for the “Point” for an additional two-year term. Other items of discussion in the city attorney’s report include a request to extend service regarding the North Morgan Water Cooperative, as well as amending the city’s liquor ordinance. Also during the workshop, aldermen will have talks regarding an engineering agreement with Hutchison Engineering for work on East Michigan Avenue, as well as change orders for the Lake Mauvaisterre Sediment Lagoons Reclamation Project and for the Raw Water Transmission Main Project.

Tonight’s regular council meeting will get started no later than 7 p.m. Here, aldermen will vote on a resolution authorizing the renewal of a lease agreement with Jacksonville Area Baseball, a resolution approving an addendum to the North Morgan Water Cooperative Purchase Contract, and the second reading of an ordinance amending the Jacksonville Municipal Code to decrease the number of liquor licenses that are to be given out.

On the consent agenda for tonight is a resolution authorizing the execution of a joint dispatch agreement between the West Central Joint Emergency Telephone System Board, Morgan County, the City of Jacksonville, the Village of South Jacksonville and Passavant Area Hospital.

All of tonight’s action takes place at the Jacksonville Municipal Building.
