Illinois’ six Republican congressmen want the Illinois Department of Insurance to find out how many people are having their health coverage canceled because of the Affordable Care Act.
In a letter, the congressmen say their constituents are confused as to why they’re getting cancellation notices from their insurance providers, when President Obama had said if they like their health plan, they’d be able to keep it.
The letter was signed by U. S. Representatives Aaron Schock, Rodney Davis, Peter Roskam, Randall Hultgren, Adam Kinzinger and John Shimkus.
The Congressmen say they need firm numbers on how many notices have been sent out, and how much a policy will cost on the individual market next year.
A spokesman from the department says they’re preparing a response to those concerns.
The White House has said only “junk” policies that don’t meet new minimum requirements for coverage are being canceled because of the Affordable Care Act.
