Early voting starts today in Morgan County

Today marks the beginning of early voting in Morgan County.

Morgan County Clerk Jill Waggener says she expects to see more early-voting this fall compared to March, given the competitiveness of certain political races.

“In March, early voting was pretty heavy I guess, but I really expect for the actual presidential election now that we’re going to see a lot of volume into the office. We also have a local, contested race for States Attorney, so I think we’ll see a turnout for that also,” says Waggener.

For those interested in early-voting, Waggener explains the process and reminds voters of the requirements for early registration.

“All you need to do is come in, tell us who you are and the process is pretty easy. You can either vote by a paper ballot or on the electronic machine. When you want to register to vote, you need to come into the Clerk’s Office again, you need to have two forms of identification with one of them showing your current address. As long as one has your current address,” Waggener explains.

Early voting continues through November 7th and is for all registered voters in Morgan County.

Hours will be from 8:30 to 4:30 Monday through Friday, then 9 am to noon on Saturdays October 8th, 22nd and November 8th. The County Clerk’s Office located at 300 West State Street.
