A single-vehicle accident early Sunday morning left five people hospitalized with serious injuries.

According to a report from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, the vehicle was eastbound on Old State Road when it drove onto the stone sided shoulder as it entered a curve near the 23-hundred block of Old State Road.

The vehicle then tried to correct, steering left and losing control, causing the vehicle to go off of the shoulder and into a ditch.

Authorities say the vehicle struck a culvert and went airborne before rolling multiple times.

Reports say all five occupants were classified as level one traumas and were transported to either Memorial Medical Center, HSHS St. Johns or Passavant Area Hospital.

America Ambulance, Lifestar Ambulance and South Jacksonville Rescue assisted in transporting the occupants.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as 19-year-old Anderson Rouland of Jacksonville. The four passengers were 19-year-old Jordan Lahey of Jacksonville, 19-year-old LCJ Pitman of Jacksonville, 20-year-old Shawn Bentley of Beardstown and 18-year-old Kobe Allen of Jacksonville.

According to reports, charges could be pending following further investigation.

Updates regarding the condition of each occupant will be provided as they become available.
