Gas prices fall below $3.00 per gallon

Gas prices haven’t been this low in nearly a year.

The low price for a gallon of unleaded in the city today is $2.98.

It’s the lowest it’s been since it was $2.95 on December 20th. The average price for a gallon of gas in Illinois is $3.33, the 20th highest in the country according to the Triple-A Daily Fuel Gauge Report.

The national average today for gasoline is $3.28 per gallon. That price is down from $3.40 a month ago and $3.54 a year ago.

One year ago today, Jacksonville residents paid $3.39 a gallon.
