Group wants ICC to re-think power line approval

The Illinois Commerce Commission might re-consider its decision on an electric transmission line that’s supposed to go through West Central Illinois.

The ICC in November approved the Grain Belt Express that will run wind power from Kansas to Indiana, cutting through Greene and Scott counties. The Illinois Farm Bureau and a group of landowners are challenging the approval of a 780 mile long transmission line for electricity.

The groups want the state to reconsider its decision because they say the company didn’t meet state requirements for an expedited review of the project. Grain Belt Express has been approved also by Indiana and Kansas regulators, but Missouri officials haven’t signed off on the power line.
