With the holiday’s right around the corner, a number of local groups are organizing events as ways to give back to the community.

As the weather gets colder, many people need help acquiring everything they might need to make it through the winter. And because of this, there are several donation drives collecting food, coats, and other necessary items over the coming weeks.

But one local organization is putting together a somewhat unique drive that continues for the next several weeks.  The H.E.L.P.S. Ministry Outreach is hosting “Dollars for Diapers.” Donated items that H.E.L.P.S. is looking for include: diapers, wipes, clothing, baby cribs, twin beds, toddler meals and/or financial contributions.

The most intriguing aspect of this campaign is that there will also be a gift awarded to one lucky donator. Tickets can be purchased for just one dollar to win an overnight stay at a local hotel worth more than $125 dollars.

Both individuals as well as local businesses are welcome to donate. Those interested in getting involved can purchase tickets until November 23rd. For more information, you can call Cathleen Hinkle at 217-245-7559.
