A Jacksonville elementary school teacher was recently named one of the best new teachers in the state at a reception in Springfield.
According to the Journal-Courier, South Elementary teacher Rebecca Dunlap was awarded the Outstanding Beginning Teacher Award from the Illinois Association of Colleges for Teacher Education for her hard work in the classroom.
Dunlap, who is an Illinois College graduate, was among nine first or second-year teachers given the honor.
The Illinois Association of Colleges for Teacher Education represents 39 schools of education at four-year public and private colleges and universities in the state. The program strives to stimulate improvement in the education of professional school personnel in Illinois.
