Illinois College received national recognition on Friday for outstanding service in the community.

According to the college, IC was listed on the 2015 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll “With Distinction”, courtesy of the Corporation for National and Community Service.

Illinois College is one of just four institutions in the state whose students’ leadership and service has been recognized since the award was founded.

A total of 175 extracurricular service projects, in conjunction with 90 community organizations and schools, were conducted by Illinois College students.

IC gets a big boost in community service from a week-long campaign of volunteer activities, known as GLOCAL. Last year, 683 students, faculty and staff donated more than 2,000 hours of service to local organizations.
