IC student from Gaza talks about current conflict

An Illinois College student from Gaza is worried for the safety of her family.

Fatima Alshantti is a sophomore at IC who lived through two wars growing up in Palestine. The day she left Gaza, the border closed. Had she waited any longer, she’d still be there.

Now safe in the U.S., she tells our reporting partners at WICS ABC Newschannel 20 that she can’t stop thinking about her family as they fight to survive another round of conflict between Israel and Palestine.
