The identity of the Jacksonville woman killed in a crash Sunday morning is being released.
According to Morgan County Coroner Jeff Lair, after an autopsy was performed this morning, the victim of Sunday’s fatal crash has been identified as 41-year old Jennifer McCulley of Jacksonville.
Preliminary investigations from the Illinois State Police say that the crash occurred just north of Zimmer Road on Route 78 shortly before 4 a.m. yesterday.
According to authorities, McCulley was driving a 2012 White Hyundai northbound on Route 78 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle travelled off the left side of the roadway before striking a tree and bursting into flames.
Lair says McCulley died almost instantly as a result of the crash, and that she was pronounced dead at the scene.
