Around 100 student athletes will be on the Illinois College campus this weekend for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes National Collegiate Camp.

For the past six years the college has hosted an FCA camp for high school students. Western Illinois FCA representative Todd Sweatman says the fantastic facilities at IC have a lot to offer for college students.

“We really work on spiritual training with our focus being on christian leadership and how to compete for Christ. We also do athletic training and leadership training. They will spend a lot of time on the basketball court, volleyball court, football field and soccer field. They will do everything from obstacle courses to competing in sports or in a variety of games,” says Sweatman.

A staff comprised of FCA members, former college athletes and local coaches will guide campers in activities on Saturday and Sunday.

Sweatman says the FCA Midwest Camp is able to impact a tremendous amount of students through faith and athletics.

“We are the Midwest Camp and have college athletes from 15 to 20 colleges. Everywhere from Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Nebraska, Minnesota, North Dakota and that area,” says Sweatman.

The FCA high school camp will take place on the Illinois College campus in July.
