An independent movie featuring an Illinois College graduate is hitting the big screen in Jacksonville next month.
Lead actress Jackie Manker says Jacksonville will be the third city to hold a premiere showing of Proximity. Manker says the shows in Centralia and Bellville last month were very successful.
Manker told WLDS/WEAI News she was “overjoyed” when she heard the news that Proximity would be shown in her home town.
“Oh my gosh this is fantastic and I am so excited. I’ve had a lot of my friends asking if they can see it, but it has always been to far of a drive. I’m excited and hope I get to see a lot of friends and family I haven’t seen in a while.”
Manker credits a strong buzz about the film on social media and a helpful push from Mayor Andy Ezard as the main reasons why the film made its way to Jacksonville.
The Illinois Theatre will host the event on March 19th at 5 p.m. Included in the premiere will be red carpet parade, a question and answer session with the cast and an after party at On The Rox.
Manker says this will be the only showing, unless there is a strong request for an additional date.
