Baseball is just around the corner! Fans are already starting to get into the 2018 regular season spirit by enjoying many spring training games.
One way you can get more prepared is by purchasing a ticket for the 3rd annual Jacksonville Night Out.
CNB Bank and Trust is partnering with the City of Jacksonville, Illinois College and the Jacksonville High School Baseball team. All proceeds from the May 5th afternoon game between the Cubs and Cardinals will go towards Jacksonville Area Baseball.
CNB Bank and Trust Marketing Director Shelley Singleton and Jacksonville Mayor Andy Ezard joined our WLDS “What’s on your mind” yesterday to discuss the event.
“Tickets have been going fast, .it’s just a great community event for everyone in Jacksonville. So come on out. Everybody is having fun with it especially with the Cubs in town. Because people are in groups of 10, groups of 20, and I have one family that kept coming back and almost have 50 tickets and it’s fun to see the posse in section 132. It’s fun even when you go to the concession stand because we are all together. This year Parina’s pooches in the ballpark and we had that last year. You get to see them all dressed up.” said Singleton.
As of yesterday, CNB has sold about 500 tickets and they is looking to sell a total of 1,500. You may purchase them for $60 a person. You may also purchase a bus ticket for $25. The bus meet at CNB Bank and Trust, 1351 Lincoln Ave, at 9:30 in the morning. Singleton breaks down how the money will be used for a great cause.
“Really by helping Jacksonville area baseball and pony colt league,we are helping every boy and girl in the Jacksonville area who wants to play baseball. It helps keep the fields up, it helps pay for some kids who can’t pay the entry fee, we will pay the fee. It helps with equipment so they can have state of the art equipment, helmets, catchers gear, things like .that they need.” Singleton said.
If they are able to sell enough tickets, the Jacksonville High School Baseball team will be able to play an exhibition game at Busch Stadium in May. Singleton talks about what the game day atmosphere is like at the game.
“To have this opportunity to go down with your friends, your family, you get goosebumps and make a big day of it and support Jacksonville. I get choked up about it, when you’re down there on the field and they yell ‘it’s Jacksonville night’ and to hear the roar, it’s pretty cool. I’m so proud to have a town of around 20,000 and sell that many tickets to a game and do it consistently, it’s a great community effort.” said Singleton.
If you are ready to be a part of the renewed rivalry between the Cardinals and Cubs, stop by CNB Bank and Trust, or you can call them at 217-243-6654. Tickets are $60. Game time is set for 1:15 on May 5th.
