A Springfield man is behind bars for his alleged involvement in the Jacksonville shooting over the weekend.

Jacksonville Police Detectives, with assistance from Morgan County State’s Attorney Gray Noll, obtained an arrest warrant for 21-year-old Brandon Ott this morning.

Ott was subsequently arrested without incident in Springfield by the U.S. Marshal Service for aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Officers responded to the shooting incident, which took place at around 5 p.m. on Sunday in the 300 block of Church, after community members reported hearing a disturbance and shots fired.

The 17-year-old victim was taken to Passavant Area Hospital for a gunshot wound to the arm. He has been treated and released with a non-life-threatening injury.

Ott remains in the Morgan County Jail on $150,000 bond.
