Jacksonville residents will find out how high their water and sewer rates will increase tonight.
The topic will be part of the discussion during this evening’s City Council meeting. Aldermen are scheduled to vote on the 2014 Utility Department Budget. Jacksonville Mayor Andy Ezard says the rate increases will help pay for the new water treatment plant and several other extensive projects within the utility department.
City Council will use the Emergency Clause when voting on the rate increases which will go into effect January 1st, 2014.
Also tonight, aldermen are slated to vote on a resolution to expand the Jacksonville/Morgan County Enterprise Zone for the FutureGen 2.0 Pipeline Route. County commissioners approved the expansion last week.
Tonight’s meeting is preceded by the workshop session at 6:30 in the Commission Room of the Municipal Building at 200 West Douglas.
