Local girl wins Rutherford photo contest

An Alexander girl has won a statewide contest put on by the Illinois treasurer.

Ella Prince won first place in the Ages 8-10 category in Dan Rutherford’s second annual Cream of the Crop Photo Contest. Prince’s picture was titled “Corn Crop and Barn.”

Prince’s picture was picked by members of the treasurer’s Ag Advisory Board. It will be prominently displayed in the treasurer’s office at this year’s state fair in Springfield and the Du Quoin State Fair.

The Cream of the Crop Photo Contest is part of the Ag Invest program, which aims to help hundreds of Illinois farmers and agriculture professionals. It’s recognized as one of the largest agricultural linked deposit programs in the U.S.

The treasurer’s office partners with eligible lenders to offer farmers both annual and long-term, low-interest loans that can be used for operating costs, equipment purchases, construction-related expenses and livestock purchases.
