Eighty Illinois veterans will make the trip to Washington D.C. at the end of the month.

The Land of Lincoln Honor Flight allows veterans of World War II, Vietnam and Korea to visit and reflect at their national memorials.

The free flight is made possible through generous donations, sponsorship and fund raising efforts throughout the year.

Veterans out of West Central Illinois joining the flight include Jacksonville’s Loren “Dean” Gish, Harvey McGlasson and Lester “Earl” Turner.

Winchester’s Thomas “Tom” Taylor, Waverly’s Donald “Doc” Jennings and Murrayville’s Terrence “Terry” English are also on the list.

The flight takes off on October 25th from Springfield.
