MacMurray’s current vice president of Academic Affairs is being named to the newly-created post of provost.

Dr. James Maxwell has served as the college’s chief academic officer since 2013. As provost, he will oversee most on-campus departments, including Academic Affairs, Business Affairs, Enrollment, Athletics and Student Life.

The MacMurray Board of Trustees enthusiastically endorsed this new role for Dr. Maxwell on account of his success with MacMurray and his distinguished careers in both academia and business.

Dr. Maxwell was recruited to MacMurray from the University of Northern Iowa, where he served as head of the Department of Industrial Technology.      Prior to his academic appointment, Maxwell was vice president of sales and marketing for Toshiba, Inc. in St. Charles, Missouri as well as a regional vice president with Emerson Electric Company in St. Louis.
