MacMurray student enrollment on the rise

MacMurray College is on track to surpass 2015-2016’s student enrollment numbers.

According to Director of Admissions Tressman Goode, MacMurray’s enrollment is jumping from 179 new students last year to over 200 students for the upcoming school year.

Goode says incoming students will be the first to qualify for a new scholarship at MacMurray.

“We actually doubled our academic scholarships to make MacMurray College an affordable option for students. Because of those scholarships we are attracting a higher academic caliber student, which we are very excited for. We expect these scholarships to continue to provide future students with a high quality education in the state. We know other colleges will have to continue to raise tuition, so we decided to raise our scholarship,” says Goode.

Goode notes higher education has been negatively impacted across the board in Illinois during the budget impasse, but…

“I don’t think we will see the direct impact until the fall and especially by the end of next year, if a budget isn’t passed right after the election. It is a big concern for every college in the state, whether it be a private or public institution.”

The most recent graduating class at MacMurray consisted of 121 students.
