Scott County farmer Robert Brown has directed a $2,500 donation to Winchester Elementary School courtesy of Monsanto.
The donation, funded by the America’s Farmers Grow Communities program, will help subsidize the technology needs of the school, according to a Monsanto press release. More than $3.2 million is being directed to nonprofit organizations in nearly 1,300 counties in 39 states this year.
America’s Farmers Grow Communities offers farmers the chance to win $2,500, which is then donated to the farmer’s nonprofit of choice, such as schools, fire departments, community centers and youth organizations like 4-H and FFA.
The program, sponsored by the Monsanto Fund, launched in 2010 and has since donated over $13 million to more than 5,200 nonprofits across the country.
