Morgan Co. sheriff crime report out for 2015

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office has released crime statistics for 2015.

     There was a slight increase in criminal offenses reported from 2014, up to 459. The clearance rate was 61.66 percent.

There was one attempted homicide case last year that was cleared by arrest; there were none the prior year. There were two criminal sexual assault cases reported, down from six in 2014.

There were no robbery cases last year, which continues a trend. There were nearly twice as many battery cases last year as in 2014, when there were nine. There were twice as many domestic battery cases, with 31.

There were zero assault cases reported in 2015, after six were reported in 2014. Burglaries were up from 23 to 29. Thefts decreased from 69 to 64. Three arson cases were reported, up from one in 2014. There were 63 criminal damage to property cases, up from 56 in 2014.

There was also a lower amount of DUI arrests. Most drug arrests were down, except for possession of methamphetamine, which was up significantly.

Calls to 9-1-1 went down significantly from 7,158 to 4,929.
