Wicked weather is making it harder for families in need to pick up supplies.

The Mobile Food Pantry will not be making its scheduled stop in Morgan County this Saturday. Organizers say it’s due to the heavy snow and cold weather.

Central Illinois Foodbank is working with the sponsor of the Morgan County Mobile Pantry stop to reschedule for a later date. Hundreds of families who use this service will be able to pick up food at other area food pantries.

Our reporting partners at WICS ABC Newschannel 20 talked with Central Illinois Foodbank spokesperson Krista Lisser.

“It was up to the sponsor to not have the mobile food pantry this weekend,” says Lisser. “Basically what we look at, is that people are depending on that mobile pantry for their food. So we have to make a decision earlier if they need to get to a food pantry to supplement them before the mobile pantry can go back out.”

If you planned to use the mobile food pantry this Saturday, Central Illinois Foodbank has a listing of other area food pantries on their website.

The next food pantry date is Saturday, February 15th.
