It was all good news during Thursday night’s Passavant Area Hospital Board of Governors’ meeting.

Passavant President and CEO Doug Rahn noted the hospital had a record year in 2014 for quality and safety outcomes, as well as a successful financial turnaround from recent years. Rahn says he is “optimistic” about Passavant’s future.

Rahn says Passavant has been able to maintain quality care during the many changes happening at the hospital.

Rahn believes staffing is up around 40 individuals from last year, due to a increase in patients at the hospital. Emergency room visits were up six percent, admission were up three percent and outpatient was up between five-seven percent from last year.

According to Rahn, Passavant exceeded budget expectations substantially for this fiscal year.

The annual meeting, held at Hamilton’s in Jacksonville, also saw one new member added to the hospital board of governors. Illinois College president Dr. Barbara Farley was elected to replace Jan Terry, the former director of Lincoln Land Community College-Jacksonville.
