Passavant Area Hospital gave sixteen local and area teens a special look at nursing as a career last week.
The fourth annual Summer Nursing Camp gave campers a four day experience on multiple nursing skills, which included participating in a nursing simulation laboratory at MacMurray College.
Campers got hands on experience on how to take a temperature, blood pressure, listen to heart and lung sounds and count respiratory rate.
They also got a glimpse at how to perform several lifesaving skills, such as administering CPR and operating an automated external defibrillator.
To be eligible for the camp, participants had to complete an application and write an essay on why they were interested in nursing.
Campers also visited the Imaging Services, Laboratory Departments and toured the Air Evac facility.
