More details are being released regarding a reported shooting incident near downtown Jacksonville Tuesday night.

Police Lieutenant Sean Walker says there was a report of shots fired in the area of West College near the Strawn Art Gallery at around 3:30 yesterday afternoon.

Walker says officers found physical evidence of shots fired, but says it took almost an hour to determine from where the shots came. When they determined the shots came from the gallery, Walker says police asked 42-year-old Eric Wooldridge, who was apparently staying at the gallery, to come out.

Walker says Wooldridge refused to come out when officers asked, but that he eventually did exit the building when the police department’s Special Response Team was called out at around 6 p.m.

Walker says it appears the shots were fired into the ground from a window of the building. He says there was no intended target. There were no injuries reported. He says Wooldridge may have been intoxicated.

Walker says the situation didn’t reach the level of a standoff, but that the nearby Masonic Temple was placed on a soft lockdown, with people not allowed to enter or exit the building.

Walker says Wooldridge came out of the gallery at around 6 p.m.

Wooldridge remains in custody at the Morgan County Jail.
