Jacksonville police are investing two separate hit and run accidents overnight that resulted in a minor injury to one person property damage in the other instance.

The first one happened around 11:15 Friday night at Main and Morton. Police reports say a black Dodge Charger slammed into the back of a vehicle stopped at a red light at the intersection of East Morton and North Main Street. The black car then reportedly fled the scene. Police say the car that was hit sustained significant damage to the rear, and the front seat passenger was taken to Passavant Hospital after complaining of neck pain.

Authorities say the car that fled likely has front end damage.

The second hit and run was reported in the 700 block of South Clay just after 2:15 a.m. Saturday.

A resident of 701 South Clay told police several items inside the home fell off of the wall, and tire tracks and skid marks were noted on the north side of the property.

Police say they found minor damage to the home’s siding. No description of the vehicle that allegedly struck the residence was available.
