West Central Illinois is dealing with thousands of power outages this morning after severe weather rolled through the area.

Ameren Illinois is reporting nearly 4,800 outages in Morgan, Scott and Cass Counties. The biggest outage areas are Virginia, Bluffs, Chapin, and Chandlerville. Southwestern Cass, Concord and western Morgan County are also dealing with widespread electricity outages.

Ameren officials haven’t given us a timeline for when power will be restored, but listeners tell us it’s gradually coming back on across the area this afternoon.
