Officials with the Grain Belt Express Clean Line have announced the projected payments to landowners within the nine-county projected area, including Scott and Greene.
According to a press release from Clean Line, payments to landowners in Scott County are estimated to reach $2.3 million over the first 20 years of the power line’s operation.
Greene County landowners would receive over $1.6 million during the same time frame.
In addition to compensating landowners directly, Clean Line will contribute $2.1 million to Scott County, for schools, roads or other public services.
Clean Line estimates that over $74 million will be paid to landowners in the nine-county-area over the next 20 years.
The $700 million Grain Belt line would run wind power from Kansas to Indiana if it clears regulatory hurdles, including from the Illinois Commerce Commission.
