A group put together to come up with a new facilities vision for District 117 is holding its second community engagement session tonight.

Vision117, which consists of community members, school district administrators, school board members and teachers, held its first public session last month. Part of tonight’s meeting will include a presentation of data from that original session.

District 117 Superintendent Steve Ptacek will once again address those in attendance. Ptacek says he’s going to be more open about the direction he wants to take the district in and define what he thinks the needs are.

Ptacek will appear on WLDS’ “What’s On Your Mind” program to talk about tonight’s meeting this morning at 10:30.

There will also be a presentation from BLDD Architects, which is working with the district, and a facilities vision-related activity for small groups. The session will end similar to last month’s meeting with reports from those small work groups.

Ptacek says the committee hopes to get input from those in attendance about what direction they want the school district to head.

Things get underway at 6:30 this evening at the Jacksonville High School cafeteria. It’s expected to take about two hours.
