Shine those wheels and rev up the engines. The annual Jacksonville Cruise Night gets underway on Saturday with a car show in Community Park.

Don Meyers, one of the organizers of the event, says the car show continues until around 3:00 p.m.

“We’ll have door prizes, kids and adult games, a 50/50 drawing, a poker walk, swap meet items, we have vendors that come out…we have a hula hoop contest that’s always a lot of fun. We hope people will come out to the car show and enjoy themselves.”

From there, the event moves on to the Cruise Night portion. Joel Buchanan says the headquarters is at Hardee’s on Morton Avenue again this year, and the “feature road” is between the cross streets of Main and Lincoln.

“The reasons for that are that we’re trying to concentrate police presence and our volunteer presence so we can keep that area as safe and secure as we can.”

The Cruise is from 5-9 p.m. WEAI 107.1 FM will broadcast live until 9:00 p.m.
