A Winchester business is benefitting from a $2-million federal loan.

The Rural Development division of the USDA has announced the selection of 86 utilities and development organizations for loans and grants to support rural business activities that aim to boost economic growth in rural communities, including Westermeyer Industries.

In a press release, it was announced last week that Illinois Rural Electric Cooperative has been approved for the two-million-dollar loan that will be used for the expansion of Westermeyer, which is a design and product manufacturer for the air-conditioning and refrigeration industries.

The addition of 37-thousand square feet of manufacturing space to Westermeyer is expected to create 20 new jobs.
