Three juveniles were arrested and two remain on the loose for alleged offenses related to a stolen vehicle, burglary, and unlawful use of a weapon.

According to authorities, shortly after 4 p.m. yesterday, officers with the Jacksonville Police Department stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of East Lafayette that had been reported stolen out of Springfield.        The car held five occupants in total, three of which fled the scene on foot while the other two remained in the vehicle. Police reports claim that one of the three subjects that fled on foot was apprehended a short time later and upon his apprehension, was found to be in possession of a firearm. The other two suspects that fled have yet to be located, and the two subjects who remained in the vehicle were taken into custody without incident.

Reports claim that, upon further investigation, the following allegations to those charged are that:  a 15-year old female and two 16-year old males were each charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle. Another male juvenile, the suspect who was allegedly found to be in possession of a firearm, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and resisting/obstructing a peace officer. The other male juvenile was also arrested for burglary to a motor vehicle, criminal trespass to a vehicle, curfew, felony theft, and possession of a stolen vehicle as part of an ongoing investigation unrelated to this incident.

Authorities are still looking for the other two occupants that fled the scene on foot at this time. This case remains under investigation by the Jacksonville Police Department Investigative Division. Anyone with any information regarding the incident is encouraged to contact the Jacksonville Police Department at 217-479-4630.
