A trial date has been set for Robert Gill, the Jacksonville man facing three charges of first degree murder.

Both sides met briefly in front of a half-packed Morgan County courtroom Friday afternoon with Gill represented by his attorney Scott Hanken and attorney Charles Colburn representing the State. Upon the request of Hanken, Judge April Troemper granted a jury trial for January 24th, 2017.

A final pretrial date was set for December 1st at 2 p.m.

Gill, who remains wheelchair-bound, is accused of murdering his former son-in-law Andy Maul in September of 2015 in the Jacksonville Police Department parking lot.

The murder charges against Gill fall under Class M felonies, which carry sentences of 20-60 years in prison.
